The teaching venue is surrounded by a wall with gates, each of which is designated as the entrance for certain attendees:
- The gates for Tibetan monks and nuns are #4 – 7.
- The gate for Indian citizens and foreigners (including foreign monks and nuns) is #1, which is located on the back side of Sera Jey Monastery.
- The gate for Tibetan lay people is #3, which is the main Sera Jey entrance gate.
